Lifting Spirits, Guiding Hearts

Memorial Funeral Services, serving with Compassion

A gathering to remember.

We make sure every detail is one less thing to worry about.

Gathering with family and friends to pay tribute to a person’s life is an important step in healing after loss. But it doesn’t have to be a traditional funeral. The most important thing is that you have a memorial gathering, not what it looks like. We can help you design a celebration of life that fits your loved one perfectly, while taking into account your family’s own emotional and spiritual needs.

Memorial Service Ideas

If a personalized memorial service is more fitting for your family, it can be helpful to consider the following:

  • What did your loved one like to do?
  • What was their personality like?
  • What was their profession and how did that shape their life?
  • Was your loved one spiritual?
  • Was he or she proud of their cultural or ethnic heritage?

There's a lot to think about. We can help guide you through each step.

  • Who will be coming? The number of guests define the where, when, and how of your celebration of life.
  • Where and when will the event take place? Be sure to check in with out-of-town relatives and friends before settling on these details.
  • Who will orchestrate or conduct the event? If your loved one was religious, you may opt to have their pastor or church minister perform these tasks. However, many families today hire a non-denominational celebrant to oversee a celebration of life.
  • Who wishes to speak at the event? You’ll want to ask those who shared a close relationship with the deceased to contribute something meaningful.
  • What shared activities would be appropriate? Think about what your loved one liked most in their life. An activity related to this can give people a remarkable space to share memories, laugh, and grieve together.
  • What food or beverages should be served? What you serve may depend on the theme of your celebration of life, or may be based on your loves one’s favorite dishes. It’s entirely up to you. We’ve even seen potluck celebrations of life where guests sign up to bring food and drink.
  • What readings and music should you include? The music your loved one enjoyed is a moving way to share in their life together, as is reading spiritual selections or excerpts from their favorite literature.
  • What stories about your loved one should be shared? Our stories make us who we are, and sharing them with the people we love can have a deeply healing effect.
